Our human crowd expands unchecked,
we grab more land, we scour the sea;
there’s nowhere else – our wastes collect,
polluting you and me.
Animals we take to feed us,
insects we have killed as pests,
plants are either crops or weeds
– our attitude, expressed.
The more they have, the more we want,
he won’t hold back so why should I?
This juggernaut won’t stop – it can’t,
helpless, we stand by.
We steal from earth to lounge in heaven,
those to come inherit hell
– rebirth’s not what we believe in.
Time will surely tell.
